Q1: Why is the dome off centre?
A1: It's deliberate. Moving the diffuser to one side leaves a broad crescent of travertine on the other, and the walnut bead sits in that space. It makes the light look more like a stone object than a standard ceiling fixture.
Q2: Is the walnut bead functional?
A2: No, it's purely decorative. It's a small ball of walnut-stained wood fixed to the plate. It adds a warm point of colour against the beige stone and ties in with wood furniture or floors.
Q3: Is it bright enough for a living room?
A3: For general lighting in a bedroom or medium living room, yes. The LED is warm 3000K and the dome spreads it evenly. In a large room you'd usually pair it with floor or table lamps.
Q4: Can I dim it?
A4: No. The LED driver is non-dimmable, so it simply turns on and off from your wall switch. Please don't wire it to a dimmer, as that can make the LED flicker or hum.
Q5: How heavy is it, and how is it fitted?
A5: At 58cm it's a substantial piece of stone, so it needs to go onto a properly secured ceiling junction box or joist. It's hardwired, AC 110-240V, and should be fitted by an electrician. Indoor use only, IP20.
Q6: Will mine look exactly like the photos?
A6: The overall colour and finish will. The pores and banding in the stone vary a little from piece to piece, so the pattern on yours won't be an exact match. Most people see that as part of the appeal.
