Q1: What makes this lamp different from a standard shaded lamp?
A1: There is no metal and no fabric anywhere on it. The broad flat disc, the column beneath it and the little finial on top are all cut from the same material, so switched off it reads as a single pale object. Lit, the column glows from within and the underside of the disc throws a soft wash back down onto the surface.
Q2: How wide is the disc and will it dominate a nightstand?
A2: The disc is Dia 38cm against an overall height of only H 35cm, so the lamp is deliberately wider than it is tall. On a nightstand of 45cm or more it sits comfortably; on anything narrower it will overhang. On a sideboard or a reception counter the low, wide profile is exactly what makes it work.
Q3: What bulb does it take?
A3: One E26 or E27 screw socket rated Max 60W, bulbs not supplied. Because the light is read through the stone rather than directly, a warm 2700-3000K lamp of 6-9W gives the most even glow. A cool white bulb flattens the depth of the material and is best avoided.
Q4: Push-button or dimmer — which do I get?
A4: Whichever you specify. The lamp is built to order with a plain push-button switch or with a dimmer switch, and the choice costs nothing extra. If you take the dimmer, pair it with dimmable E26/E27 bulbs. On this design a dimmer is worth having, because the column reads very differently at low output.
Q5: Can you supply it for our market's sockets?
A5: Yes. US, UK, AU and EU cord sets are all available and we build to the standard of the country the order ships to — just confirm the destination when you place it. Nothing about the lamp changes apart from the plug, and the internal wiring is rated AC 110-240V so it works on either mains voltage without a transformer.
Q6: How should it be cleaned?
A6: A dry or barely damp soft cloth. The surface is polished and sealed but it is still a porous material underneath, so keep solvents, bleach and abrasive cream off it, and wipe up any spill promptly rather than letting it stand. Do not immerse any part of the lamp or clean it while it is plugged in.
