Q1: How does this lamp work?
A1: The bulb is mounted upright inside a small brass cone on top of the travertine cylinder, pointing up into a wide flat saucer carried on three slim rods. All of the light hits the underside of the saucer first and is reflected back down, so nothing shines at you directly from any angle.
Q2: Why choose an indirect lamp?
A2: Because it lights a surface without a hotspot. The saucer spreads the output over its full 42cm, so the pool underneath is broad and even — good on a console, a sideboard or a desk where a conventional shade would leave a bright ring and a dark edge. It also keeps the source out of sight in a room with low seating.
Q3: What bulb does it take?
A3: One E26 or E27 screw socket rated max 40W, bulbs not supplied. A 6-9W LED at 2700-3000K suits it; a compact bulb is best, as the brass cone around the socket is sized for a standard lamp rather than an oversized decorative one.
Q4: Push-button or dimmer — which do I get?
A4: Whichever you specify at the time of order, at no extra cost. With the dimmer switch, fit dimmable E26/E27 bulbs. Dimming is worth having here, because the reflected light is already soft and drops to a very quiet level cleanly.

The wiring is rated AC 110-240V, which means the same lamp is supplied into 120V and 230V markets with only the cord set differing. Q6: How much room does it need?
A6: Allow a clear 42cm of width for the saucer, which overhangs the base by a long way on every side, and about 33cm of height. The stone cylinder is heavy and sits well under the centre of the saucer, so the lamp is stable, but it wants a level surface and should not be carried by the shade.
