Q1: How is this lamp built?
A1: A tapered travertine column carries a wide, shallow dome of matt black metal that covers the top of it completely, and a small travertine button sits in the centre of the dome where the two meet. The light source is hidden under the dome, so from any seated height you see only stone, metal and the glow between them.
Q2: What does it look like switched on?
A2: The dome blocks any direct view of the source and reflects the light back down, so a bright warm ring appears where the column meets the metal and fades away down the stone. It reads as a halo rather than a beam, which is why the lamp works beside a bed or on a desk without glaring at you.
Q3: What bulb does it take?
A3: One G9 capsule socket rated max 40W, bulbs not supplied. A 3-5W G9 LED at 2700-3000K gives the clean warm halo shown in the photography. Fit the bulb before placing the dome, and allow it to cool before changing it.
Q4: Can I have it with a dimmer?
A4: Yes. Specify a dimmer switch in place of the standard push-button when you order, and pair it with dimmable G9 bulbs. This design responds particularly well to dimming because the light you see is reflected rather than direct.

A6: The colour and the overall character will, but the banding and the open pitting run differently on every column, so no two are identical and the difference only really shows close up. If you are buying a pair for two nightstands, tell us and we will select them from the same production run.
