Q1: What am I actually looking at?
A1: A single alabaster tube, roughly 8cm in section, bent into a loose repeating coil so it folds back on itself in a series of soft loops. There is no visible frame holding the shape — the tube itself is the structure. From the side it reads as a ribbon caught mid-motion; from below it becomes a chain of overlapping ovals of light.
Q2: What are the straps for?
A2: The coil is supported at intervals by stitched leather straps in a mid brown, each wrapped around the tube and running up to the ceiling. They carry the load and they set the height of each loop, so the straps are both the suspension and a deliberate part of the design — a warm, tactile counterpoint to the cool alabaster.
Q3: What size is it and how does it hang?
A3: Two lengths: L 150cm and L 200cm, both W 60cm x H 35cm for the coil itself. Multiple straps and cables drop from separate ceiling points, and each is adjusted on site, so the piece can sit level or be given a deliberate rise and fall along its length. Allow a ceiling of at least 2.8m.
Q4: Do I need to buy bulbs?
A4: No. The LED runs inside the tube along its full length and is built in, at 3000K warm white with CRI over 80 and rated Max 40W in total. Because the source is continuous rather than a row of points, the alabaster glows evenly end to end with no bright spots and no dark gaps between loops.
Q5: How do I look after the leather straps?
A5: Wipe them with a dry or barely damp soft cloth and keep them out of direct sunlight, which will fade and stiffen the leather over time. Do not use solvents, saddle soap or leather oils on them — the straps are finished to match the fitting, and dressing them will darken the colour unevenly.
Q6: Where is this design usually specified?
A6: Over long dining tables, in hotel and office lobbies, and above reception desks — anywhere the ceiling is high enough for the coil to be read as a sculpture rather than an obstruction. It also works well in a double-height stairwell, where the folds are seen from more than one level.
