  • Q1: What is the shape of this chandelier?

A1: A racetrack — an elongated oval with straight sides and semicircular ends, so it covers a long table the way a linear bar does but without hard corners. The body is built from flat alabaster staves stood on end around the frame, arranged in two tiers with the lower tier stepped outwards, which gives the silhouette a shallow terraced profile rather than a plain cylinder.

Q2: Is the centre open or closed?

A2: Open. Looking up from underneath you see straight through the middle to the ceiling: the polished gold frame reads as a bright oval channel with the lamps set around it and the alabaster staves clipped to the inner and outer walls. That open centre is what stops a fitting of this footprint from feeling heavy over a table.

Q3: How are the alabaster staves fixed?

A3: Each stave is held against the gold frame by two small brass pins that show as neat stud heads on the outside face. The staves are individually removable, so a single piece can be swapped without dismantling the fitting, and the slight variation in width and shading between staves is what gives the drum its handmade rhythm.

    Q4: What bulbs go inside?

A4: E14 candle-base sockets, bulbs not included, rated Max 60W in total across the fitting. We recommend 3-5W E14 LED at 2700-3000K. The lamps sit down inside the gold channel and are screened by the stave walls, so you get a warm wash through the alabaster with no direct view of the bulb from seated height.

Q5: Which size suits my table?

A5: Two lengths: L 100cm and L 120cm, both W 35cm x H 20cm. As a rule of thumb, leave at least 15-20cm of table showing beyond each end of the fitting — so L 100cm suits a table of about 140-180cm and L 120cm a table of about 180-220cm. Hang the base roughly 75-85cm above the tabletop.

Q6: Will the veining look the same as the photos?

A6: The pattern will not be identical. Every stave is cut from a different part of the batch, so the grey and amber shading shifts from piece to piece and from fitting to fitting. The photographs show a representative example; expect the same palette and the same translucency, but treat the exact figuring as unique to your unit.
