Q1: What is the difference between the five layouts?
A1: The 4 head version is a single straight black bar with four cubes sitting square on top. The 5 head version uses a double bar and turns every cube 45 degrees so it hangs as a diamond, corner down. The 6, 8 and 9 head versions use two offset black rectangular frames at different heights, with cubes facing both up and down, so they read as a three-dimensional grid rather than a line.
Q2: Which one should I choose for a kitchen island?
A2: For a standard island of 180-240cm the 4 head L100cm straight bar or the 5 head L100cm diamond version is the usual answer — both are narrow, at W12cm and W17cm, so they do not crowd the worktop. The 6, 8 and 9 head frames are 80-105cm square and are better over a square dining table or a boardroom table.
Q3: What are the black and brass parts?
A3: The bars and frames are matt black powder-coated metal, and each bar is closed with a brushed brass end cap; on the frame versions the brass also appears at the corner joints and around each socket collar. The contrast is deliberate — the black structure almost disappears against a dark ceiling and leaves the alabaster cubes floating.
Q4: Can this one be dimmed?
A4: Yes. This model supports bulb dimming: fit dimmable G9 LED bulbs and wire it to a compatible leading or trailing edge wall dimmer and it will dim smoothly. Bulbs are not included, so make sure the ones you buy are marked dimmable — a non-dimmable G9 will flicker or buzz on a dimmer circuit.
Q5: How bright is it?
A5: Each head is rated Max 15W and we recommend 3-5W G9 LED, so a 9 head version draws well under 50W in practice. Because the light passes through solid alabaster the output is soft and diffused rather than punchy — plan it as the atmospheric layer over a table or island and keep separate downlights for task lighting on the worktop.
Q6: How is it shipped?
A6: The bar or frame ships as one rigid piece in a moulded foam bed with the brass caps already fitted, and the alabaster cubes are packed individually in a second layer. On site the frame is hung from its cables, hardwired to the junction box through the canopy, and the cubes are then fitted one by one over the sockets.
